PLAS Looking to Keep Elite Status
WTVY Article by BenStanfield
"PLAS Looking to Keep Elite Status"
The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots rose to prominence in the Alabama Independent Schools Association football league when they won the AAA state championship in 2008. The team stepped up to elite status when they captured the repeat in 2009. The 2010 Patriots didn’t make it as far as they had hoped, but that was with a trip to the state semi-finals game. "PLAS Pounds Lyman Ward"
There were some technical difficulties with the lighting at Delaney Kervin Stadium that forced both teams to play on a partially illuminated field. It wasn’t like the Patriots needed it, however, as they were too busy lighting up the scoreboard bright enough for everyone to see as Pike Liberal Arts thrashed Lyman Ward Military Academy 41-12 to open up their 2011 pigskin campaign. “We saw a lot of good things,” head coach Steven Kilcrease said. >>>> read more

IT'S GAMETIME!!! - ARE YOU READY???
Game Preview by Troy Messenger (Wes Johnson)
Lyman Ward @ Pike Liberal Arts
The Patriots come into their season opener looking to improve upon their 28-21 victory over Crenshaw Christian in last week’s jambore. Head coach Steven Kilcrease is still uncertain on the amount of playing time quarterback Josh Starling will receive but has two very capable candidates to turn to in Nick McLaughlin and Taytom Barnes. The Patriots are 3-0 against the Rangers and have yet to surrender a point. Pike Liberal Arts has an inexperienced offensive line that needs to show improvement if the Patriots hope to make another run in AISA Class 3A.
KICKOFF TIME - 7:00 PM at PLAS

"PLAS to Vary Looks at QB" by Wes Johnson
While Pike Liberal Arts head coach Steven Kilcrease was short to say the Patriots would use a true multi-quarterback system, expect to see a few different numbers behind center in 2011. Josh Startling is expected to be the Patriots’ starter but Taytom Barnes and Nick McLaughlin will both see action at the quarterback position. “It gives you a little different look,” said Kilcrease.... read more
