The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its 2015 ASWA All-State Football Team late Saturday night and the PIKE Patriots were well represented.

PIKE Basketball is back in action today with a full slate of games in Grady against the South Montgomery County Academy Raiders. Tip-off between the JV Girl's is set for 4:00 pm with all other games to follow. These will be the last JV games of 2015 and also the debut of the full varsity boys' basketball team.

The True PIKE Patriot Award is established to recognize annually, an individual and or collective group who exemplifies the attributes we most closely associate with being a PIKE Patriot and whose attitude and personality reflect their love of Pike Liberal Arts School on the fields of competition and in life. 

This year’s True PIKE Patriot Award was awarded to Hank and Maria Strother during tonight's Fall Sports Banquet.

The fall sports banquet is set for tomorrow (Tuesday, December 1, 2015) at 6:00 pm in the school's cafeteria. This banquet will honor all student athletes that participated in all JV and Varsity sports during the fall, meaning JV and Varsity Volleyball, JV Football and JV Cheerleaders, Varsity Football, Mangers, Varsity Cheerleaders and all Dance Team members. 

The Sports Boosters will provide chicken fingers and tea for the  Banquet. Parents are to provide a side dish in accordance with the following:
  • Last Name A-G Desert
  • Last Name H-O Salad (green, pasta, etc)
  • Last Name P-Z Vegetable and or Casserole
We will be giving away door prizes provided my several local merchants throughout the Banquet. Chances to win a door prize will be $1.00.

PIKE is once again hosting the AISA State Championship Football Series on Friday, November 2​0th at Troy University. As the host school, ​​we are responsible for the desserts in the Hospitality Room. Families of athletes or anyone that would like to contribute should bring a dessert to the school in a disposable container by 3:00 pm on Thursday, November​ ​19th.

Please join me in congratulating Marquese Christian in being selected as an AISA all-star, representing the AISA West in a football game held in Montgomery at Crampton Bowl on December 4th at 7:00 pm.  Marquese will be joined by Carter SennElaina Strother, Patsy Ann Davis, and Kelli Grant, who were chosen as AISA all-stars during cheer camp back in the summer. Also, Adam Grice will be announced during pregame ceremonies as an injured all-star.

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots celebrate HOMECOMING on tonight with a game against the South Montgomery County Academy Raiders from Delaney Kervin Stadium / Dwight Ward Field. PIKE will re-dedicate its stadium in honor of Delaney Kervin and DeWight Ward in a pregame ceremony set to begin at 6:45 with kickoff set for 7:00 pm.  The announcement of the 2015 Homecoming court and the crowning of this year’s Homecoming Queen will take place during halftime of Friday’s game.

All PIKE fans are encouraged to come early and cheer loudly for their Patriots.

2015 HOMECOMING EVENTS

Thursday September 24th

The Homecoming Parade will begin at 5:30 and will circle around from the front of the school and end behind the lunchroom. All parents will need to be parked by 5:15 as the road will be closed. We must leave one lane open for emergency traffic.

The Bonfire will begin at 7:00 pm followed at dark by the Glow In the Dark Pep Rally, "A Tribute to the Stars". Cost for the pep rally is $5 adults and $2 per student.  

Friday, September 25th

FCA breakfast begins at 7:00 am at Park Memorial United Methodist Church

The Homecoming Assembly will begin at 9:00 am in the Stadium. A reception will be held afterwards for all homecoming attendants, juniors, seniors and alumni in the library.

Homecoming Pep Rally will begin at 11:15 in the stadium. All students are to report to the field and sit in their assigned seats at 10:45

School dismisses at noon.

Stadium re-dedication honoring Mr Kervin and Coach Ward will begin at 6:45 during pregame.

Kickoff between the Patriots and Raiders is set for 7:00 pm.

Introduction of the Homecoming Court and crowning of the 2015 Homecoming Queen will occur during halftime.

Wednesday's home volleyball matches with Edgewood have been cancelled to avoid conflicts with homecoming activities in-progress in the gym. These matches will not be rescheduled at this time.

Please email pike.patriots@gmail.com know if you can work any of the available shifts on the schedule above. We were scrambling for gate workers Tuesday and I don't want to be in that position again this week or for the remaining Tuesday games. We need two workers for the upper and lower gates per shift.

Concession Stand Workers-
Upon arriving for the first shift, please immediately get the peanuts in the crock pot, the nacho cheese in the machine, and ice down drinks in the Pepsi tubs. Prepare tomato, onion, and lettuce. ALL food items should be in the fridge or freezer. Get all condiments and napkins out on the table. There are instructions taped at every work station. Cooks need to get burgers, hot dogs, and French fries started right away.  If you are working, consider the Concession Stand your kitchen! You have a 100+ people coming for dinner and they want hot food and cold drinks. Thanks! ~ Sarah McKenzie

2015 Homecoming Mum Corsages

Homecoming 2015 for Pike Liberal Arts School will be held on Friday night, September 25th.  This is an exciting time for alumni, students, faculty and parents.  We would love to see everyone show their Patriot Spirit by wearing a beautiful corsage to the game and other festivities.  This is for moms, grandmothers, and Patriot girls of all ages!  The corsages can be ordered by calling Jean’s Flowers at 566-2480.   A plain corsage with red, white and blue ribbon is $15 and if PLA or a football number is added the cost is $20.

The deadline to order a corsage from Jean’s is Friday, September 18th.

Thanks in part to our newly executed beverage contract with Pepsi of Luverne and to the multi-year commitment of our scoreboard sponsors - Troy Cable, Inc, Piggly Wiggly, The First National Bank and Julia's Restaurant LLC, the Booster Club is very proud to announce that it has ordered new scoreboards for all sports played on campus. The football scoreboard and new game clocks should be installed by homecoming while all other boards will be installed prior to the beginning of their respective season. These boards will be a significant improvement in both size and quality of our existing boards and will be unique to PIKE

Yesterday was a busy day on our athletic calendar with varsity volleyball and three football teams in action. Our varsity volleyball team fell to Eastwood (21-25 and 23-25) and to Evangel (10-25 and 12-24) in yesterday tri-match hosted by Eastwood in Montgomery. Both Eastwood and Evangel are very good volleyball teams. Our football teams won two out of three games in Auburn against Lee Scott. Our termite team won 12-8 while the peewee team fell 6-18. The JV team won 32-6 with Lee Scott scoring their lone touchdown with nine seconds to play in the ballgame.

There are no games scheduled for today. Volleyball will be at home tomorrow afternoon with a home match (JV and Varsity) against the Glenwood Gators beginning at 3:30. We'll finish out the week with a home varsity football game against the Hooper Colts. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm from DeWight Field at Delaney Kervin Stadium.

The Annual Meet the Patriots Rally is set for tonight (Friday, August 21st) at 6:00 pm in the stadium. This is a great opportunity to meet all the student athletes that will represent our school this fall. All volleyball and football teams, their coaches, the cheer-leading squads and the dance team will be introduced on the field. This is a special event since it will be the first time that many put on their red, white and blue uniforms.

There will be performances by the pep band, the dance team and both JV and Varsity cheer squads. Admission to this event is free. The concessions stand will be open but very limited as Chic-fil-A will be on hand selling chicken sandwiches, chips and cookies. Chic-fil-A is donating a portion of all sales back to the booster club.

The PR Committee is selling t-shirts. Please use the form above to select your option. Turn all forms and payment into the office by Monday, August 24th.  This order will be placed several times throughout the year. 

The Booster Club sponsors a weekly Fellowship of Christian Athlete's Breakfast each Friday morning  at 7:00 am at Park Memorial United Methodist Church for our fall-sport athletes. Our first FCA Breakfast will be this Friday morning (August 21st) and will continue through the remainder of football season. The varsity football team, varsity cheerleaders and varsity volleyball team have been highly encouraged by their coaches to attend; however, all student athletes are invited. If you do not play a fall sport or if you are not a varsity level player but want to attend please contact Coach Allen.  In addition to breakfast, Bro Danny Arnold of PMUMC will present a brief message. We should dismiss at or before 7:40 so that all student athletes can return to PLA prior to the first bell.

Volunteers should arrive at PUMC at 6:00 am.


PIKE volleyball opens its season later today as the Escambia Academy Cougars travel to Troy. The JV teams are set begin at 3:30. The Varsity teams will face off shortly after the conclusion of the JV match. Please come out and support the volleyball teams!

The store will be up and running until August 28th at which time the site will close,  all orders will processed and then ship to the school. We will reopen the online store in September with a different selection. 

JOIN THE BOOSTER CLUB TODAY! Many of the activities and projects at PIKE are supported heavily by the Sports Boosters from funds generated completely outside the school’s General Fund Budget. Virtually all boys and girls sports receive monies from the Sports Boosters to purchase items such as uniforms and equipment. The Booster also fund the cost of officials, utilities, travel expenses, renovation, facility improvement etc.  We want to continue to build on a fine tradition of sports and academics. By joining the Sports Boosters and using our group buying power, we can lower the cost per student for equipment, uniforms and many other items. Every Patriot student and family will benefit.

Individual / Family Membership is $40.00. The Patriot Pride Family Membership Package which is both membership to the Booster Club and Family Passes to all regular season games is $200.00.

A statement from the AISA concerning the upcoming Cheer and Dance Competition

"Due to the lack of participation, due to many factors, the Cheer and Dance Competition is being cancelled for August 22nd and will be rescheduled for later in September or early October
​ - most likely
 on a Sunday afternoon so not to interfere with college football 
games, homecomings, and volleyball.  Our goal is to have a new date by the end of next week."

The next Booster Club Meeting is set for Thursday, August 13th at 6:30 pm in the school’s cafeteria. This will serve as the annual kickoff meeting. 

This is a mandatory meeting for the parents of all student athletes participating in fall sports including termite, peewee, JV and varsity football, JV and varsity volleyball and JV and Varsity cheerleaders.  In addition to our coaches, Dr Eric Law will be on hand to discuss concussions and player safety.

Summer Workouts

Summer Workouts will begin Monday, June 8, 2015, and will continue throughout the summer.  The schedule is posted on the school calendar (a link to the school calendar is below).

In order for your child to be able to participate in athletics at Pike next year, he/she must attend a minimum of 18 workouts this summer.

Please click the link below to view information pertaining to summer workouts and a letter that needs to be signed by both the parent and athlete acknowledging that they are aware of this requirement for participation in Pike athletics.

Spring Sports Banquet 2015

The spring sports banquet is set for Monday, May 4, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the school's cafeteria. This banquet will honor all student athletes that participated in all JV and Varsity sports during the winter and spring sport seasons. 


Sports Boosters will provide the meat and tea for the banquet.
There will be no cost for the banquet.
Parents are to provide a side dish in accordance with the following:


  • Last Name  A-G:  Salad (tossed, pasta, etc.)
  • Last Name H-O:  Vegetables or Casserole
  • Last Name  P-Z:   Dessert

Baseball/Softball Gate and Concession Workers

Please email Billy or Donna Brown (bddsbrown@yahoo.com /ddbrown@troy.edu)  if you can work either the concession stand or the gate  for any of the areas highlighted for this season's home baseball and softball games. 

Please note that the varsity shift begins at 2:30 and runs to the end of it. The second shift picks up just prior to the start of the JV games and run through clean up.  Also, this schedule does not include the McWaters Tournament as it is such a massive undertaking that we will send out a separate signup sheet for the Tournament.

CONGRATS TO A GREAT SEASON PIKE BASKETBALL 

PIKE's basketball season ended earlier this afternoon with a 50-46 loss to Kingwood in overtime of the Elite 8. Please join me in congratulating Coach Gene Allen and the PIKE Patriots on a good season. Special thanks to the seniors and their parents.

Blue Jean Ball 2015

The Blue Jean Ball will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Troy Country Club from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm.  The Blue Jean Ball is a social for parents, alumni, and friends of Pike Liberal Arts School.  This year's entertainment will include music by Union Station. Like previous events, there will be a silent auction.  Heavy hors d'oeuvres are include in the ticket price.
