Patriots prepare for season

 


PLAS Prepares for 2011-2012 Basketball Season
For the fourth time in five seasons, the Pike Liberal Arts Patriots will have a new head coach. This one, however, won’t be a new face.

Bob Pickett will move up one chair on the Patriot bench to assume the head coaching duties for the 2011-12 season and said he feels optimistic about the direction the program is headed.

“I feel good about this team,” he said. “They have a positive attitude and work really hard.”

Pike is coming off a 5-19 campaign but with seven seniors, Pickett feels leadership should not be an issue....

Reynolds named to AISA All-Star team

 



While Pike Liberal Arts volleyball season came to an end this week with a loss to Hooper Academy in regionals, one Patriot will play one final match. Senior Jaylan Reynolds was selected to represent Pike on the AISA All-Star team as a member of the South squad. “It’s an honor,” Reynolds said. “There are a lot of good players in the state and it feels good to be recognized with them.” Reynolds helped lead the Patriots to a 9-8 mark in 2011 as the team’s only senior but volleyball is one of many talents for the 17-year-old.
